The Fellow Espresso 58 mm Bottomless Portafilter combines a classic bottomless portafilter design with the minimalist aesthetic of the Fellow Espresso Series. The solid stainless steel body and ergonomically shaped natural wood handle ensure high-quality, balanced handling for daily espresso preparation.

The bottomless construction leaves the filter basket visible from below, allowing you to observe the espresso as it exits the basket during extraction. This makes the bottomless portafilter not only visually compelling but also a helpful tool for assessing coffee distribution, tamping, and grind size, as well as identifying potential extraction irregularities.

With its standard 58 mm size, the portafilter is designed for compatible 58 mm espresso machines. The scope of delivery includes both a non-pressurized filter basket for classic espresso preparation and a pressurized filter basket, which can be useful when using pre-ground coffee or a grinder that cannot grind fine enough.

Additionally, Fellow includes a detachable shot splitter. This can be attached to the underside of the portafilter when needed, allowing the espresso to be split between two vessels. Without the attachment, the portafilter can be used in the classic bottomless manner.

The handle is available in two wood options: Walnut and Maple. This allows you to choose the portafilter to match your respective Fellow Espresso Series 1 or your own coffee setup.

Use & Care

For classic espresso preparation, you can use the non-pressurized filter basket. The pressurized basket is particularly useful if you are using pre-ground coffee or if your coffee grinder cannot grind fine enough for a classic espresso extraction.

If you wish to split a shot into two cups, the included shot splitter can simply be attached to the underside of the portafilter.

For cleaning, the filter baskets and shot splitter should be removed and washed separately by hand with warm water and a non-abrasive detergent. Wipe the portafilter body with a damp cloth. Not suitable for the dishwasher.

Since the handle is made of natural wood, it should be protected from extreme heat and prolonged contact with steam. Fellow recommends maintaining the wood about once a month, or whenever the surface looks dry, using suitable mineral oil and then polishing it with a soft cloth.
