hand coffee grinders

Real coffee lovers know that coffee made from freshly ground beans tastes best. Coffee beans retain the aroma, which is volatile in air, much better than instant coffee, as the wonderfully fragrant coffee and rust aromas can fully develop during grinding. And you can taste it too! For really good coffee you only need three things: high-quality, freshly roasted coffee beans like our CAPTN Coffee, a reliable coffee maker and a good coffee grinder. We offer you high-quality hand coffee grinders at an unbeatable price. Discover now and order directly!

Hand coffee grinders of the highest quality

Why CAPTN Coffee?

A really good coffee grinder is a worthwhile investment you won't regret. We pay particular attention to the grinder to ensure we offer you only products of outstanding quality. A really good hand coffee grinder doesn't have to be expensive. Since it's completely electricity-free, you can even take it with you on vacation or camping so you don't have to go without freshly ground coffee. Many of our models also offer the option of precisely adjusting the grind size. If you value grinding coffee as a ritual, then a hand coffee grinder is definitely a good choice.

What you should pay attention to when choosing a grinder

Everything depends on the grinder, as it is the heart of every grinder. The most important thing is that it grinds the coffee beans gently without generating excessive frictional heat: heat destroys the aroma, which can lead to a bitter taste in the coffee. A good grinder should also grind as evenly as possible, producing coffee particles that are as uniformly sized as possible. This is the only way to extract the aroma evenly during the brewing process. Coffee grinders with a disc grinder or a conical grinder are particularly recommended. The former are made of robust stainless steel or ceramic and have two concave discs that can be adjusted depending on the grinding level. Coffee grinders with a conical grinder are particularly recommended, as these grind the beans particularly gently, generating only minimal frictional heat. We therefore generally recommend hand-held coffee grinders with a conical grinder.

We can recommend these hand coffee grinders

Hand grinders are available in all price ranges. The most affordable and popular are the modern models from Hario, which consistently perform well in tests. They may be "just" made of plastic, but they have a very good grinder. They're also nice and small and virtually indestructible. We swear by the small Hario Mini Slim Plus, which impresses with a transparent bean hopper, a ceramic conical burr grinder, and a locking screw for adjusting the grind. One "full grind" is enough for an entire French press.
Want to grind more? Then the Hario Mini has two bulbous bigger brothers: the Hario Skerton Plus (approx. €34) and the Hario Skerton Pro (approx. €55), which have a significantly larger grounds container with a capacity of 100g.
If you prefer a stainless steel look, thePorlex Tall II(approx. 64 euros) with its indestructible hand lever. It impresses with a high-quality ceramic conical grinder and also has a dial on the lid with which the grinding level can be adjusted in an instant. Porlex stands for quality, durability, and, above all, particularly precise grinding results. The Porlex Tall produces approximately 30 g of ground coffee, while the smallerPorlex Mini II(approx. 64 euros) it weighs about 20 g. The latter is perfect for on the go!
If you like timeless design, we recommend theComandante C40 MK4 Nitro Blade, which, with a hefty price tag of approximately €200, is one of the most expensive hand grinders. But the design, made of wood, stainless steel, and hard plastic, as well as the patented conical stainless steel grinder with knife-like quality, is more than worth it. The grinding levels are easy to adjust with an audible click, and they vary significantly.
So, which hand coffee grinder will you choose?

Questions & Answers

How do I clean a hand coffee grinder?

To clean the outside of your coffee grinder, all you need is a damp microfiber cloth and, if necessary, a little dish soap (careful: not too much!). You can clean the inside with a narrow vacuum cleaner or a cleaning brush with natural bristles. Rice or spelt are recommended household remedies for removing coffee residue from the grinder. We recommend cleaning your hand-held coffee grinder regularly to ensure you enjoy it for a long time.

What is the difference between electric and manual coffee grinders?

As the name suggests, electric coffee grinders are powered by electricity. Manual coffee grinders, on the other hand, must be operated manually. However, grinding with a manual grinder becomes a real ritual for true coffee lovers.
