How often should you clean Moccamaster?

The manufacturer recommends cleaning the coffee machines after 100 brewing cycles, i.e. after one pack of paper filters. Clean Drop cleaning agent is recommended for cleaning. This gently and effectively removes deposits in the water tank and water flow, ensuring the best coffee enjoyment for a long time. A bag of Clean Drop for testing is already included with most machines.

By the way, a hint as to how long the best coffee enjoyment is guaranteed: you should not use the coffee pot to fill your Moccamaster, as there will always be coffee residue left in it, which will dirty the machine over time. Instead, you should use a separate measuring cup to fill it.

How often do I need to descale my Moccamaster coffee machine?

The manufacturer recommends descaling the coffee machine after 100 brewing processes, i.e. after one pack of paper filters. As soon as the glass tube in the water tank becomes cloudy, you should also descale your Moccamaster to ensure that you continue to enjoy the best coffee.

Which filters are suitable for my Moccamaster?

The models with glass and thermos flasks up to 1.25l, such as the KBG Select and the KBGT, fit the normal paper filters in size 4. If you are looking for another solution that is a little more environmentally friendly, then we can recommend the Permanent Gold filter . It is easy to clean and can be used to brew coffee for years without affecting the taste of your coffee.

For the Cup-one model, you should use size 1 paper filters . These, like size 4, are also available directly from Technivorm.

The special heating element ensures that a temperature between 92 and 96°C is reached during the brewing process. This temperature range was chosen so that the coffee does not taste sour or bitter, but you get a particularly aromatic cup of coffee. Thanks to the special 9-hole spout, the water is optimally distributed over the coffee powder, which ensures a brewing result like from a hand filter. With the KBG Select model, you can also simply choose between a full and a half jug using the selector switch. This choice is important because a half pitcher will have a slower flow time than a full pitcher. This guarantees the best brewing results and a particularly full-bodied, aromatic taste with both four and ten cups of coffee.
