FAQs

Which grinder is the best for coffee?

A conical grinder is best for grinding coffee. Therefore, coffee grinders with a conical grinder are very popular with coffee lovers. Models with conical grinders can usually be easily adjusted to the desired degree of grinding, so that you can use them to grind both coffee and espresso beans. This gives you the opportunity to adjust the degree of grinding to your individual taste and the desired preparation method.

What is the difference between a disc and cone grinder?

In the case of coffee grinders with a disc grinder, the beans are crushed between two concave discs lying one on top of the other. While one disc is fixed, the other is driven by the grinder motor so that the coffee and espresso beans are ground in between. During the grinding process, these migrate from the inside to the outside and are thus crushed more and more. With a coffee grinder with a conical grinder, your coffee beans are ground particularly gently between an inner cone and the outer wall. Thanks to the funnel shape of the grinder, the ground material is carried directly down into the collection container. When grinding with a conical grinder, little frictional heat is generated and you get even grinding results. Therefore, the cone grinder is one of the best in coffee grinders.

How much does a good coffee grinder cost?

A good coffee grinder has its price. However, this primarily depends on whether you prefer a hand grinder or an electric coffee grinder. While you can get hand-operated grinders from around €30, the price range for electric coffee grinders starts at around €100. Another criterion for the price is the equipment you want from a coffee grinder. Under the manual and electric models, there is also a division into entry-level and professional devices.
