FAQ

What is the difference between coffee beans and espresso beans?

A crucial difference between coffee and espresso beans is the roasting. While coffee beans are naturally light, the latter only become dark over time and thus become espresso beans. This gives espresso beans a much more intense aroma than coffee beans. Thanks to the long roasting time, the beans also lose acid and are therefore easier on the stomach than coffee beans.

Which is the best espresso bean?

Which espresso is the best depends primarily on your personal taste. There are many differences between the different types of espresso. This starts with the type of bean. While Arabica beans have a milder taste and are therefore mainly used for filter coffee, Robusta beans are naturally strong. A mixture of both types is often used for espresso. This is also the case with our varieties from CAPTN Coffee. You are guaranteed to find the best espresso beans for your taste. And if you are unsure which type is right for you, you can try out our range with our sample packages and find your favorite beans.

What makes a good espresso?

A good espresso is characterized by a crema that is 2-3 mm high, hazelnut-colored and very dense. If you sprinkle sugar on the crema of a good espresso, it will slowly sink in and then it will form again. The espresso should have an intense, strong aroma and the typical roasted flavor. You can also taste flavor nuances such as chocolate, vanilla or cocoa from selected espresso beans. You should always enjoy your espresso hot for an aromatic, intense taste experience.

Which grind should I choose for espresso?

In contrast to filter coffee, for which a medium degree of grinding is optimal, a fine degree of grinding is the best choice for preparing your espresso. We recommend that you freshly grind the beans just before preparing them. This is very easy with a hand coffee grinder or conveniently at the touch of a button with an electric grinder.
